Funeral services for Pinkie Carroll Jones, 74, will be at Jabez Missionary Baptist Church Friday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor William Sapp Sr. officiating. There will be a viewing of Pinkie at rest from 5–6:30 pm at the church. Interment will be Saturday, June 18 at 10 a.m. at Edgefield Missionary Baptist Church in Cheneyville. Pinkie Jones passed away in her home in Natchitoches June 9, 2016 at 8 p.m. with her husband and son at her side. Pinkie was born to the late Etta Harris Carroll and Robert Carroll Nov. 21, 1942 in Cheneyville. She attended Grambling State University for two years before attending Natchitoches Central Area Trade School where she became a licensed cosmetologist. Her employment included Natchitoches Parish School System, Northwestern State University, La Quilla Sewing Factory and Handcock Fabrics. Pinkie leaves to cherish her memories her husband James W. Jones; one son, Rogers Williams, daughter-in-law Sharon Williams; grandsons Robert Williams and Roddrick Williams, all of McKinney, Texas; one step-son Wayne Ficklin (Tracy); two stepgrandchildren Dante and Nicholas Ficklin; four sisters-in- law, five brothers-in-law, a host of relatives and friends and two loving four-legged companions.

EMERY MONTGOMERY

Emery Lee Montgomery, 92, died at 9:08 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, in the Southwest Louisiana War Veteran’s Home. He was a native of Bellwood and had been a resident of Sulphur for 70 years. Emery was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received various medals such as Asiatic-Pacific Theater, Good Conduct Medal, Soldier’s Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and the Victory Medal. He was a charter member and deacon of Houston River Baptist Church and served with the Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief. Survivors include his son, Paul Emery Montgomery and wife, Lisa of Sulphur; two daughters, Melissa Toniette and husband James of Sulphur and Janet Gauntt and husband Randy of Natchitoches; stepdaughter, Nan Puzzanchera and husband, Phillip of Fort Myers, Florida; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Lizzie Mae Ballard Montgomery; second wife Nannie Ruth Montgomery; two sisters; and three brothers. His funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, in Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville. The Rev. Ray Dyess officiated. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery in Marthaville. Visitation was in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral.

Funeral services for Lois Evelyn Daniels, 84, of Robeline, were Wednesday, July 6 at 2 p.m. at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Jared Vincent officiating. Burial followed in the Rocky Mount Cemetery in Robeline. Visitation was Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many. Lois Evelyn Daniels was born Saturday, Nov. 14, 1931 in Sabine Parish. She passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 41 years, Dan Vernon Daniels; her parents, Jim Crit French and Jewell French; and her brother, Billy Ray French. She is survived by three sons: Carroll Daniels and wife Shasta of Robeline, James Daniels and wife Joan of Robeline and Danny Joe Daniels and wife Karen of Sulphur; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; brothers Charles Glen French and wife Charlotte, Ronnie Gerald French and wife Mary and James Adrian French; sister, Joyce Ann Brown and husband Bob; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Darlene Keeth will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home chapel with Rev. David Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. She passed from this life and promoted to glory on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in Alexandria, surrounded by her family. Darlene was born in Dallas but spent her childhood growing up in Berryville, Ark. She was a very special person, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She lived in Natchitoches for her entire adult life, making her family home here. She was a homemaker and beloved teacher at Jack in the Box Daycare in Natchitoches for many years and was a long time member of Oasis of Love Church in Natchitoches. She was a member of VFW post 1962 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary in Natchitoches as well. Darlene was the most selfless, loving, caring person anyone could ever meet. She loved her family and friends; they were her entire world. She will be greatly missed. She was survived by her loving husband of almost 45 years, Lester Keeth of Natchitoches; her mother, Gladys McCary of Bossier City; her sons, Denny Keeth of Benton and Donny Keeth and wife Dana of Natchitoches; her sisters, Dian Sandefur and husband Sandy of Bossier City, Deborah Tibbs and husband Glen of Haughton, and Doreen Johnson of Pachuta, Miss.; her granddaughter, Heaven (daughter of Donny and Dana) of Natchitoches; one niece, Lydia Sheppard and husband Jason of Bossier City; nephews, John Michael Morrow and wife Sharon of Bossier City, Joshua Tibbs and husband Jason Hartz of Geneva Ill., Jared Tibbs of Haughton; great nieces, Ariel, Alayna, Isabella and Sarah Emily; one great nephew, Brennan; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Nelson and husband Wayne of Natchitoches and Barbara Ann Mcalister and husband Tommy of Bossier City. She is also survived by numerous extended family as well. She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Leroy Woods. Those honored to be pallbearers will be Mark Lester, Jansen Boyd, Chance Evans, Jason Sheppard, Glen Tibbs and Jason Hartz.

A Mass of Christian burial was held for Anease Beaudion at 11 a.m. Friday June 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Cloutierville with the Rev. Christian Obgonna officiating. Interment followed at Cloutierville Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Beaudion, 94, passed away Tuesday June 23, 2016 in Chicago, Ill. She was born Dec.13, 1921 to the late Walter and Mary Louise Byone Coutee in Cloutierville. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Matthew Beaudion and her first born son John H. Beaudion. She worked at Magna Craft Inc. as an assembler until she retired at 67. She made Chicago her home for many years. She was a very sociable person with many friends. She was known as the most talkative woman in the world. She loved to dance, especially to zydeco, Polka, and the Cajun two step. She always visited the sick and had to attend every wake. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Daniel Beaudion of Chicago and David Beaudion of Romeoville, Ill.; her daughter, Barbara Beaudion Rachal of Plainfield, Ill.; four grandkids, Greg Beaudion (Evelyn) of Irving, Texas, Sherry Rachal of Plainfield, Ill., Tammy Rachal of Plainfield, Ill., Fanice (Megan Lisa) Smith of Texas; and two great grandkids, Brady Jones and Tolton Smith. Those honored to serve as pallbearers included Greg Beaudion, Tolton Smith, David Beaudion, Brady Jones, Michael Bonnette and Shawn Bonnette.

Graveside services for Donald Clifford Thomason will be held at 11 a.m. July 15 at Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery in Natchitoches with Rev. James Whitehead officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. July 15 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Donald Thomason, 84 years of age, passed away July 13, 2016. He was born October 31, 1931 in Larned, Kan. Donald was a “live-wire,” a practical joker and an honest man. He loved to pull pranks on people, he loved fast cars, playing cards and pool and spending time working outdoors and in his garden. He had a great passion for sports, so much so, that no one was allowed to interrupt his concentration when a game was on. He was a man of his word, a trait he took great pride in. Every career he had was dangerous. He was a Golden Glove Boxer, a 20-plus year retired Army Medic, and a Death Row Guard at Angola State Penitentiary. He had a love for dogs, raising Dobermans as family pets. But most importantly, he was a family man. He loved his family with all of his heart. He left his mark on them for certain, and will not be soon forgotten. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Hershey of Houston, Texas; his son, Leroy Norris of Mooringsport; his grandchildren, Kandi Bowden and husband Micheal of Houston, Texas, Karen Brown and husband Jerry of Tyler, Texas, Tracye LaCour and husband Chris of Farmersville, Texas and Jamie Mattice and husband Daniel of Farmersville, Texas; eleven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aline Horton Thomason; his parents, Elva and Theron Randall; and two sisters, Joan Slay and Shirley Hauser. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Leroy Norris, Jerry LaCour, Bradley LaCour, Joseph Boehm, Micheal Bowden and Jerry Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Donald’s memory.

Funeral services for Jeanette Irvin “Sweet” Niette were at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at Provencal United Pentecostal Church in Provencal, with Rev. Paul Grace officiating. Interment followed at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Spanish Lake. The family received friends from 5-9 p.m. on July 18 at Provencal United Pentecostal Church. Jeanette Niette, 73 years of age, passed away July 16, 2016. She was born January 8, 1943 in King Hill. A smile, a warm heart and a welcoming hand were all of the things one could expect when going to Sweet’s home. She was a compassionate and loving lady who made everyone feel at home in her presence. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she prayed for her family every night. She poured herself into her children, and is the reason they are who they are today. She took the means that her husband, Earl, brought home, and stretched them out to provide for all of their needs. She was a great cook and homemaker. As the grandchildren came along, she quickly became the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Sweet is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Earl Niette of Provencal; her children, Ricky Niette and wife Vicki of Coushatta, Robert Niette and wife Glenda of Natchitoches, Liz Williams and husband Terry of Natchitoches, Patricia Gilcrease and husband Peyton of Campti, Tracy VanHook and husband Clarence of Provencal, and Shawn Festavan and husband Chris of Benton; twenty- six grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Dill and husband John of Blanchard and Shirley Young of Coushatta; three brothers, Ray Irvin of Ajax, Wallace Irvin and wife Pam of Shreveport, and Jimmy Irvin and wife Linda of Shreveport; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Irvin; her mother and step-mother, Elizabeth Procell Irvin and Bobbie Irvin; her grandparents who helped raise her, Fred and Mary Irvin; and her brother, Lonnie Irvin. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jacob Niette, Justin Niette, Jerred Niette, C.J. She was born to the union of Velmo and Leola Jackson Bryant on September 21, 1933. Essie leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Gerald Kenneth Taylor and wife Phoebe; and John D. Taylor, all of Natchitoches; her grandchildren, Stephanie L. Taylor of San Francisco, Calif.; Crystal D. Lewis (Quez) of Atlanta, Ga.; Megan N. Crawley (Trey) of Dallas, TX; two great-grandsons, Kelvin C. Latchie and Quez L/ Lewis of Atlanta, Ga.; her loving sisters, Marlin McGaskey and Marline Washington of Natchitoches, as well as nieces, nephews and a host of loving, supportive friends. A graduate of Southern University, Essie taught in the Natchitoches School system until retirement. Essie was preceded in death by her parents, Velmo and Leola Bryant, and her brothers, Al J. Hooper, Velmo, Walter and James Bryant.

Mrs. Vera Thomason Brewer, 76, of Natchitoches passed away July 16, 2016. Vera was born August 8, 1939 in Natchitoches and is preceded in death by parents Frank A. Thomason and Mattie Wilkerson Thomason of Natchitoches, brothers, Bluford Thomason and Frank Thomason of Haynesville and her late husband of 40 years, John Brewer of Natchitoches. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Kayla Litton and husband Donnie of Converse, Kathy Armstrong and husband Evan of McGregor, Texas, and Jennifer Stephens and husband James of Bossier City; stepson, John Dave Brewer of Kentwood; brother, Raymond Thomason and wife Mary of Flemingsburg, Ky.; and sister-in-law, Wanda Thomason of Haynesville. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Jacob and Lydia Litton, Jackson and Madeline Armstrong, and Molly and Grayson Stephens, along with hosts of nephew, nieces and cousins. Vera was a longtime resident of the Oak Grove Community, a member of Westside Baptist Church and was known for her love of gardening. She served as a Master Gardener and took special joy in her work with the Greenhouse Project at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. Services will be held Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home and will be conducted by Pastor Lindle Stewart. Pallbearers will be Clifford Blake, Jr., Ricky Brewer, Tyler Hammond, Jacob Litton, Doug Patterson, Hubert Wilkerson, Kent Wilkerson and Luke Wilkerson. Honorary Pallbearers are Shawn Thomason, Travis Thomason and Cole Wilkerson. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center Greenhouse Project 299 Edwina Drive, Natchitoches, LA 71457.

Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Cook were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22 at Calvary Baptist Church in Natchitoches, with the Rev. T.J. Boyd presiding over the service. Interment followed at Calvary Baptist Cemetery. The family received friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday, at the church. Billie was known to many young people as Mama, Granny, Nanny, Nanna and Mama Billie. She was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She loved her family and friends. She loved her church family, and had many talents, to include but not limited to quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing the piano and organ and tending beautiful flowers. She loved the sound of the ocean, the sunrise and the setting of the sun. She loved a storm as it reminded her just how small she was in this world. Mama will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. We are sure she is in Heaven playing for our Lord’s choir. He was a great storyteller and had an interesting personality. He left his family with many fond memories and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Bull and husband Joseph of Flora; his grandchildren Jolea, Alice, and Adalyn; his brothers, Donald Dykes and wife Judy of Natchitoches and Glen Dykes and wife Betty of Hagewood; his sisters, Pat Rachal and husband Joe of Grand Cane and Jackie Platt of Hagewood; nine nieces and nephews; and eight great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Bane Norman and Mary Celeste McCain Norman.

She was born to Frank and Mamie Antley November 2, 1920 in Natchitoches. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Berry Geter of Bossier City; those who lovingly refer to her as “Granny”, Ted Lyons and Susan Barnhill and her husband Garey of Jacksonville, Fla.; her great grandchildren, Katie Hopkins and her husband Rob, Joseph Barnhill, Sarah Lyons, Logan Lyons, and Jeffrey Lyns; her great-great grandchildren, Asher, Margo, and Owen Hopkins, Emmalyn Conners, and Nevaeh Lyons; one brother, Floyd Antley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend of 64 years, J.A. “Dolph” Berry in 2001; and her 21-year-old grandson, Alan Lyons in 1979. God has taken her home to be with her family that has gone on before her that also include her parents, Frank Antley and Mamie Jordan Antley; one brother, Frank Antley; and her sisters, Lucille Tanner, Shirley Rachal, Bobbie Thompson, and Ruth Crow. The family would like to thank the staff of Natchitoches Community Care for the care they gave to Katie over the last year and a half of her life.
