A Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys Monette was at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Natchitoches with Fr. Marc Noel officiating. Interment followed the service at Cloutierville Catholic Cemetery. Gladys Monette, 63, of Natchitoches passed away Feb. 6, 2017, in Natchitoches. She was born Oct. 5, 1953, in Pineville. Gladys was a warm and loving person. She loved life and she loved to shop. She was very devoted to her church, Holy Cross Catholic, where she was a member for around 30 years. She derived great joy from serving the Lord through the church. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley Monette Sr. and Julia Metoyer Monette; two nephews, Peter Monette and Stanley Monette Jr.; and three brothers, Stanley Monette Sr., Leo Monette and Willie Monette. She is survived by two sisters, Cecile Monette and Mary Silva and husband Robert; two brothers, Owen Monette and McKinley Monette Jr. and wife Marie; nine nieces, Janie LaCour, Debra LaCour, Rachal Moran, Veronica Monette, Julia Monette, Stephanie Bayonne, Charlotte Monette, Patricia Monette, and Connie Monette; and seven nephews, Joey Monette, Keith Monette, Clayton Monette, Randy Monette, Willie Monette Jr., Michael Monette and Jason Monette.

Patrick Lee Shelton, 78, passed away at his home in Winnfield Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence Eileen Lee Shelton; sister, Kay White; brother, Richard Shelton; and a son, Michael Shelton. Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean Lowery Shelton; son, Frankie Shelton and wife Pam of Alexandria; son, Brian Shelton and wife Andrea of Natchitoches; brother, Cloy Shelton and wife Janie of Winnfield; sisters, Cele Thompson and husband Reggie of Atlanta, Jettie Moore and husband the late L. G. Moore of Winnfield, LeWanda Holmes and husband Jerry of Joyce, Connie Fergusen and husband Wayne of Winnfield, and Linda Grove and husband Tom of Granbury, Texas; brother, David Shelton and wife Barbara of Atlanta; granddaughter, Catherine Knowles and husband Jesse of Alexandria; grandson, Benjamin Shelton; granddaughter, Addison Shelton; grandson, Bailey Shelton; great-grandsons Cutter Knowles and Kane Knowles; and countless other family members and great friends. Patrick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He lived a simple, happy life, surrounded by those he loved. He was a hard worker and spent much of his life doing what he loved, working as a skilled carpenter. ?Graveside funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield with the Rev. Danny Keyes officiating. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

DEACON JOSEPH C. PELTIER NATCHITOCHES, LA

A mass of Christian burial for Deacon Joseph C. Peltier was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 20I7 at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with The Most Rev. David P. Talley, Fr. Marc Noel, and Fr. John Cunningham officiating. Burial was in Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Greg Thompson, Paul Soileau, Dillon Thompson, David Lalonde, Austin Barbo, Trevor Barbo, Sean LaCaze, Walt Pipkin and Kyle Scott. His sons-in-law Rodney Jacobs, William Townsend, Keith Thompson, Mike Hinds, Greg Soileau and Ted LaLonde served as honorary pallbearers. Deacon Joe dedicated the better part of his life to serving others. He was ordained as the first permanent deacon for the Alexandria/ Shreveport Diocese June 5, 1980. Over the next 37 years, he performed hundreds of baptisms, marriages and funeral services. His longest assignment was to Holy Cross Catholic Church and NSU Catholic Student Center. He and his wife Bobbie opened their hearts and home to the students providing meals, transportation or a place to stay during holiday breaks. Deacon also offered counseling and support for those dealing with suicidal thoughts, unexpected pregnancies and marriage preparation. He also served as Deacon at Immaculate Conception, St. Anthony’s, St. Augustine’s, as well as parish churches in Spanish Lake, Powhatan, Campti and Black Lake. He looked forward to providing Eucharistic services at Cane Gardens Apartments every Wednesday for 36 years. He also provided Chaplin services at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and was a member of the hospital Volunteers. As a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus for 67 years, he served as Grand Knight and held office at the district and state level as well. He served our country as a Sgt. First Class during the Korean War from 1950-53. Never one to meet a stranger, it didn’t matter if you knew him as Deacon, Mr. Joe, JC, Daddy, Paw Paw or “Smiley,” his smiles and hugs were free to everyone. He simply loved people and touched the lives of so many who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bobbie; parents, Felix and Anna Peltier; brothers, Howard, Emmitt, Ernest and Edward; and sisters, Nettie Watts, Enola DeGruy, Pearl Gross, Ethel Adams and Lillian Pergue. Those who will cherish his memory are his children, Cathy Jacobs and husband Rodney, Joey Peltier, Susie Thompson and husband Keith, Judy Hinds and husband Mike, all of Natchitoches, Cindy Townsend and husband, William of Shreveport, Mary Soileau and husband Greg of Katy, Texas, and Teresa Lalonde and husband Ted of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Florence Peltier, Madelyn Thibodaux and Anna Mae Mixon of Ponchatoula; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the American Lung Association, St. Jude’s, or a charity of your choice. The family asks that you join them following the burial at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1105 E. Fifth St. for food and fellowship.

KRISTY MARIE LACOUR NATCHITOCHES, LA

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kristy Marie LaCour, 36, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville with the Rev. Kenneth Obiekwe serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Cloutierville Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 423 LA-495, Cloutierville.

Kristy, 36, and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. She was born April 3, 1980, to Ricky and Barbara LaCour in Pineville.

Kristy was truly a one of a kind person and touched so many people around her. Even though she had her “own way” of doing things, she never hesitated to help anyone in need. Her glowing personality and charm would light up any room she entered. A loving and caring mother and daughter, her family was one of the most important things in her life. She loved her Lord and it showed by the honesty and truthfulness she lived her life by. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her children, Deontre’ Deshawn Coutee, Thomas Canaday, Alyunna Diamond LaCour and Jasmine Symone’ LaCour; parents, Ricky Joseph LaCour and Barbara Ann LaCour; brother, Ricky James LaCour; grandparents, Clara and Hubert Lacour and Gustina LaCour; as well as many uncles, aunts, and many friends.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Carlous Armstrong, Dennis Armstrong Jr., Damian LaBom, Joshua Monette and Dwayne Rice.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Rachal, Anthony Rachal, Mark LaCour and James Ray LaBom.

Ronnie G. Jordan, 65, of Hummelstown, Pa., passed away at his home in Feb. 15, 2017 at 5:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. at Rocky Mounty Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, 355 South Capitol St., Many.

Ronnie was born March 21, 1951, in Robeline to the late O.K. Jordan and Eva Carroll.

Ron graduated from Robeline High School in 1969 and attended Northwestern College in Natchitoches. He worked for McBurney Corporation of Norcross, Ga., as a project manager until his early retirement in 2010 when he was first diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Buck Jordan of Hummelstown, Pa.; son, Christopher “Kitt” Jordan and wife Jennifer of Houston; daughter, Tanya Jordan Loht and husband Shawn of New Orleans; stepdaughter, Brandy (Allen) Little and husband Donnie of Titusville, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Lily Jordan, Somer Little, Amalie Cayula and Julian Cayula.

Ron enjoyed his country music through his headphones during his illness.

CHARLES SIDNEY PRUDHOMME JR. NATCHITOCHES, LA

Funeral services for Charles Sidney Prudhomme Jr. will be Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Natchitoches with Fr. Mark Noel officiating. Interment will follow at Rachal Cemetery in Marco.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches.

Charles, 85, of Natchitoches died Feb. 20, 2017, in Natchitoches. He was born Oct. 5, 1931, to Charles Sidney Prudhomme Sr. and Angvie Edwards Prudhomme in Natchitoches. He was an amazing person with a large family. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He loved to fish and hunt and was a great artist. He had many wonderful paintings and pencil drawings. Charles had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Cecelia Rachal Prudhomme of Natchitoches; his children, Charles S. Prudhomme III, Jim Prudhomme, Richard Allen Prudhomme, Lenn Strevy and Nikki Lilly and husband James; his step-children, Cindy Williams, Kathy Salveson, and Sonya Vaughn; grandchildren, Amber Prudhomme, Seth Prudhomme and wife Melanie, Lindsey Reese and husband Nick, Alisia Redmond and husband Lance, Jamie and husband David Graver, and Dustin Lilly; nine great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat- grandchildren.

He is also survived by the mother of Jim and Richard Prudhomme, Billie Ann Middleton Pierce; four sisters, Betty Jo Smith, Rose Beth Menou, Doris Bowden and Deborah Powell; brothers Tedd Prudhomme, Richard “Dickie” Prudhomme and Danny Prudhomme; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sidney Prudhomme Sr. and Angvie Edwards Prudhomme; his first wife, Elizabeth Crawford; and son, Tad Prudhomme.

We will all miss our Charlie!

HENRIETTA ‘SUE’ MCFERREN NATCHITOCHES, LA

Funeral services for Henrietta “Sue” McFerren will be Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Fountain of Life Church in Natchitoches under the direction of Blanchard St Denis Funeral Home with the Rev. James Whitehead and her son, the Rev. Mark McFerren officiating.

Interment will be in Lambertown Cemetery in Robeline.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, Feb. 23 at the church from 5-9 p.m. Henrietta was born Feb. 21, 1949, in New Orleans and passed to a greater life Feb. 20, 2017, in West Monroe after a long struggle with cancer just one day short of her 68th birthday, surrounded by her loving children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos David McFerren; children, Amos David Jr., Patricia Ann and Christopher; a great-granddaughter, Jacie Sanders; parents, Elza “Elzie” Eldridge and Hazel Hughes Eldridge; and brother, John.

Sue was a loving and devoted wife to Amos David for 36 years and loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally.

She also loved her church family: there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She loved working for the Lord and had a passion for working at the UPCI campground in Tioga every chance she got. She will be missed beyond measure by her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Amy Carter and husband Lucian of Robeline, Margrie Hodge and husband Alvin of West Monroe, Hazel Carter and husband Nathaniel of Sulphur and Ginger Bowers of Pearl, Miss.; one son, Mark McFerren and wife Marsha of West Monroe; 16 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Helen and Onedia; and two brothers, Robert and Elzie Eldridge.

Her grandsons are honored to be pallbearers, Lucian Scott Carter II, Jacob Scott Sanders, Nathaniel Clifton Carter II, Daniel Bertram Bowers, Dakota David McFerren and Hunter Dwayne McFerren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua David Sanders, Jonathan Nicholas Sanders, James Andrew Sanders, Christopher Amos Carter and Matthew Bertram Bowers.

Alton LaCour Jr., beloved husband of Geraldine LaCour, left us Jan. 4, 2017, with his family by his side in Albuquerque, N.M. Alton Jr. was born April 27, 1936, in Cloutierville to Germaine and Alton Sr. He moved to Alexandria in the early 50s where his four children where born and raised, Elton Sr., Darren Sr., and Carl and Alton III. In 1972, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Carl.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; siblings, Carol, Yvonne, Dorthy, Hattie, Urcel, Larry and Aunces; children, Elton Sr. (Shirley), Darren Sr., and Alton III, (Anisa); brothers- in-law, Patrick Metoyer and Curtis Metoyer; and sisters- in-law, Santie Metoyer and Barbara Beaudion; seven grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services for Connie Sue Desadier, 59, of Natchitoches were at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at New Salem Baptist Church in Montgomery with Bro. Chuck LaCroix officiating. Interment followed in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Desadier was born Jan. 28, 1958, in Montgomery and passed away Feb. 17, 2017, in Natchitoches.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Crayton and Estelle Gentry; and two brothers, Tommy Gentry and Crayton Jr. Gentry.

Mrs. Desadier is survived by her two sons, Andy Antee and Jason Desadier, both of Bossier City; seven sisters, Emily and John Welch of St. Maurice, Dorothy Cameron of Montgomery, Margie Foster of Walker, Alice Welch of LaPlace, Billie and Roy Jones of St. Maurice, Doris and Jerry Hines of Black Lake, and Vickie and Mike Ribando of Tickfaw; two brothers, Danny Gentry Sr. and Debra of Tennessee and Ronnie Gentry and Marie of Holden; grandkids, Michael Antee and Sabrina and Jaylynn Desadier; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Pallbearers were Chubby LeBrun, Noah Hines, Gary Cameron, DJ Rushing, Chris Comer and Jason McManus.

JOHN BRYAN BRADLEY SR. AIKEN, SC

John Bryan Bradley Sr., 88, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at Aiken Regional Hospital, Aiken, S.C., following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mr. Bradley was born April 13, 1928, in Mound, La., to Dr. George H. Bradley and Nancy McMurry Bradley. He was a graduate of North Fulton High School in Atlanta, Ga., in 1947 and then attended Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He graduated with a degree in Chemistry in 1951.

During his senior year, he met the love of his life, Emily Jane Fraser, of Atlanta, Ga., with whom he spent the next 60 years.

He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict at San Marcus AFB, Texas, Fort Sill, Okla., and New Port News and Fort Eustis, Va. He was initially assigned to the Chemical Corp. but then was accepted to Army Aviation where his passion for flying took off and continued to serve in the Army’s Transportation Corp until discharged from active duty in 1955. Following his tenure in the Army, he continued his service as a pilot with the Georgia Air National Guard.

After serving in the United States Army, Mr. Bradley began his long career in the Pulp and Paper Industry beginning with Georgia Kraft in Macon and Rome, Ga., and quickly rose through the ranks to serve as the first plant manager of Alabama Kraft, a division of Georgia Kraft (now Westrock) Cottonton, Ala. His career continued with plant manager positions at The Brown Company, Berlin, N.H., Willamette Industries, Natchitoches, and Jackson Paper, Sylva, N.C. In the latter stages of his career, he worked as a Chemical Testing Consultant across Louisiana and Texas and enjoyed flying for the U.S. Forest Service and others upon request. Mr. Bradley finally retired and hung up his wings in 2010 at the early age of 81.

Mr. Bradley was fortunate to pursue his passion of flying and traveling with alongside his wife, Jane. Enjoying life to its fullest with his love for boating, hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches and went on several mission trips in South Louisiana, Haiti and Costa Rica.

Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Fraser Bradley; son, Frederick Carl Bradley; brother, George H. Bradley Jr.; grandson, Preston Thomas Smyth; and parents, Dr. George H. Bradley and Nancy McMurry Bradley.

He is survived by son, John Bryan Bradley Jr. and wife Darlynn Bradley of Augusta, Ga.; daughter, Dr. Jayni Bradley Thomas and husband Steve Thomas of Watkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Elizabeth Faye Bradley Smyth of Columbus, Ga.; and daughter, Julea Bradley Hovey of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, John Bryan Bradley III, Mary Catherine Bradley Nalbach, Bradley Steven Thomas, James Erskine Thomas, Emily Louise Thomas, Peyton Fraser Smyth and Cullen Edward Hovey; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children that he loved greatly.

The family would like to extend our deep appreciation for Dad’s personal caregivers in Aiken to Rescare Homecare, Agape Hospice, and Regency Hospice, and especially for care and relationship with Sam Griffin and Melvin Thomas.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Jernigan Methodist Church, 2288 Hwy 165, Jernigan, Ala. (just south of Cottonton) with burial in the family cemetery at the church, alongside his wife, son, and grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Bradley’s memory to the Jernigan Methodist Church, 2271 Hwy 165, Jernigan, AL 36027.

MELISSA ‘COOKIE’ DEDON NATCHITOCHES, LA

Melissa “Cookie” Dedon was born Aug. 15, 1958, to James and Shelby Dedon of Natchitoches. Melissa entered her eternal life Feb. 13, 2017, in Natchitoches.

Preceding her in death are her parents, James Dedon of Franklinton and Shelby Dedon of Natchitoches; and her brother, Eddie Bynog of Natchitoches.

Melissa was an avid animal lover whom never met a stranger.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Jeffery Rodgers of Florida; daughter, Neicy Rodgers of Texas, brothers, Charles “Gator” Dedon of Robeline and Joseph Dedon Sr. (Nancy) of Natchitoches; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service in her honor will be at Westside Baptist Church, Natchitoches, Friday, Feb. 24 from 5-7 p.m.

SANDRA JANEL BRISTER BATON ROUGE, LA

Sandra Janel Brister, a retired employee of AT&T, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Baton Rouge General, with her sister at her side. She was 81 years of age and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge.

She is survived by her sister, Sherry L. Brister; brother, DeWayne Brister and wife Linda Brister; nephew, Jeremy Brister of Baton Rouge; brother, Jerry E. Brister of Dallas; niece, Amy Morris of Asheville, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved.

Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge Monday, Feb. 27 from noon until services at 2.m. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

MARGARET ELLEN ABINGTON SUTTON NATCHITOCHES, LA

Funeral Services for Margaret Ellen Abington Sutton will be Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Natchitoches. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. prior to the services.

Margaret was born in Many in 1927. Mrs. Sutton graduated from Northwestern State College where she studied Social Welfare and later worked for the Welfare Department in Natchitoches. She joined Phi Kappa Sigma Sorority, and met her husband of 67 years Kerlin Caspari Sutton.

Mrs. Sutton was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoches. She loved her “Couples Too” Sunday school class. Her floral talents were often on display in the church sanctuary while her teaching and artistic skills were demonstrated in the Girls Auxiliary organization and Vacation Bible School.

Margaret was dedicated to the family business, Sutton Agency, where she worked as a licensed real estate agent and apartment manager. She was also honored to serve on the Ladies Advisory Board of Peoples Bank in Natchitoches.

Her many contributions to the Natchitoches community include her active involvement over the years in the Natchitoches Service League, the Natchitoches Northwestern Symphony Society and the St. Denis Art League for which she was recently named Director Emeritus.

Mrs. Sutton was awarded the Natchitoches Living Legend award in 2014 by the Association for the preservation of Historic Natchitoches, serving over seven decades. Margaret also enjoyed her involvement as a member of P.E.O. Chapter AU and as a charter member of Le Papillon Book Club.

In the 1950s Margaret founded the St. Denis Garden Club. Gardening and flower arranging gave her and many others countless hours of joy. She studied the ancient art of Japanese flower arranging under the mentorship of Mary Takahachi. Margaret continued her studies and eventually became a nationally accredited flower show judge.

Margaret loved nothing more than to dress up, decorate and entertain. Friends and relatives were often treated to dinner parties, family reunions and annual Christmas Festival parties.

She is survived by family members she so dearly loved; her son, Mark Kerlin Sutton and wife Cathy; daughter, Ellen Nita Sutton Donaldson and husband Dan; brother, Leonard “Pete” Abington and wife Ellen; Her beloved grandsons, Matthew Landry Sutton, Marshall Cannon Sutton, Jonathan Daniel Donaldson, Thomas Mark Donaldson; great-grandson, Jonah Landry; Nieces and nephews, Beth Prejean, Camille Hansen, Rodney Abington, Clay Abington, Julie Brewton, Valerie Abington and Doug Abington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kerlin Caspari Sutton; parents, Nell and Doug Abington; brother, Douglas Abington and his wife Mai; nephew, Steve Abington; and her in-laws Nita and George Sutton.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Matthew Landry Sutton, Marshall Cannon Sutton, Jonathan Daniel Donaldson, Thomas Mark Donaldson, Leonard Clayton Abington, Douglas Walker Abington, Rodney Clarence Abington and James Michael “Mickey” Brewton.

Honorary pallbearers include L.J. Melder, David Graham, Jim Bob Key, Robby Lucky, Tom Southerland and Joe Williams.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to her dear friends and caregivers Deborah Haskett and Joe Williams. Sincere thanks are extended to Natchitoches Hospice, Dr. Bill Luster, Diane LaCour, Regina Phanor and Shirley Johnson.

NOBLE ELOY FLENNIKEN NATCHITOCHES, LA

Funeral service for Mr. Noble Eloy Flenniken will be Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Lee Dickson serving as officiant. Burial will follow at Fern Park Cemetery, Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Scott Flenniken, Jeff Thibodeaux, Nick Trichel and Bill Collins.

Noble Eloy Flenniken went to his heavenly home Feb. 21, 2017. He was 96 years old and a World War II veteran.

A native of Vowells Mill, he lived in Natchitoches for over 65 years. His last remaining years had been in care facilities in the Sulphur area, which gave his son the ability to visit him on a daily basis.

He is survived by one son, Steven Lee Flenniken and wife Sue of Sulphur; grandson, Scott Flenniken and wife Nicole of Pasadena, Texas; granddaughter, Stefanie Flenniken Thibodeaux and husband Jeff of Sulphur; one sister, Rita Vicks of Shreveport; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Carlee and will Flenniken, Kathy Suarez, Jacob Noble and Logan and Sydney Thibodeaux. His great- grandchildren were the love of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Sandefur Flenniken; son, Berry Noble Flenniken; parents, Thomas Albert and Mae Rhodes Flenniken; four brothers, Wilburn, Burl, Major and T.C. Flenniken; two sisters, Ruth Flenniken Roberts and Dolly Flenniken Caldorone.

Anyone that knew Noble, knew his character was derived from his name because he was truly a noble man. He was a noble husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and true friend.

He served in World War II as an office clerk in the Philippines. His favorite job was riding a bike to get the mail and giving it out at mail call. He worked in the pest control business for over 50 years, where he served as manager for Orkin and Mr. B. He enjoyed shaping the lives of children, and volunteered with Boy Scouts of America and Clara Spring Baptist Camp for many years. Upon retirement, Noble became the “widows handyman” where he did yardwork and small construction jobs for elderly people. He loved to can jelly and figs and would always have plenty to share with family and friends. Out of all his endeavors, his favorite job was serving his Lord God. He was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and usher and served his church for over 60 years. Noble was good and faithful servant

William Gilbert Stroud Jr. passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at the age of 70. He was born on July 15, 1946, in Natchitoches. He is survived by loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Tina Thomas Stroud; son, William Gilbert Stroud III; daughter, Susan Michelle Stroud Sewell (David); sister, Elizabeth Stroud Arthur; grandchildren, Abigail Elizabeth Sewell and Isabella Patricia Stroud; Michelle (mother of Isabella); numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grandnephews; many brothers-inlaw and sisters-in-law; and his cat, Endymion Lee Stroud, AKA “Mr. Minni.” He graduated from NSU in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He worked as the Chief Financial Officer of Georges Enterprises and was a former employee of Arthur Anderson Company and William B. Reily. He was a member of The Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, St. Patrick’s Church, and Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans. The visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
