He worked for the Louisiana Department of Corrections in the Psychology Department. He was baptized into the Church of Christ at Shackle Island Church of Christ in Hendersonville, Tenn. Boo Boo was loved by so many friends, that his contagious laughter will live on through. Whether he was playing football, baseball or basketball at St. Mary’s High School, where he met so many of his lifelong friends, or having a “dance off ” with his new friends from college, wherever he went and whatever he was doing, he was the life of the party. He was the best of us and enjoyed making others happy. He also enjoyed watching people smile and he had the greatest smile of all. His smile extended from ear to ear and his piercing eyes glowed with joy, as he enjoyed conversation with friends and family. A couple of Boo Boo’s favorite activities were hunting for buckin’ deer and dove with his Daddy-O, brother and friends. Taking night rides with his Momma to the middle of their pasture to gaze at the stars, in search of shooting stars. He will be laid to rest in that pasture to forever be looking down from the stars. He will live on in every shooting star in everyone hearts in everyone’s laugh or smile or dance off or Longhorn’s crowd cheering. He will forever live on in the lives of those who loved him, for which there are too many to count, because to know Boone Wilkinson, our Boo Boo, our Bubby, was to love him deeply. Please join us in celebrating Boone’s life and come as you are, he wouldn’t want it any other way. Elizabeth Gloria Linda Black was born March 14, 1951. in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, to Cpl. Moses E. Black and Helga Maria Albinus. She grew up in the Black Lake area, graduating from Goldonna High School in 1968. She then continued her education at Louisiana State University- Shreveport from 1968-69. She then moved to Suffolk County, NY, where she attended Suffolk County Community College in 1973. She also was employed by the Suffolk County Department of Labor from 1973-76 as a Microfilm Technician. She then owned and operated Little Bo Peeps Day Care Center from 1978-85. In March of 1989, she obtained a diploma in Medical Office Management from the Colorado College of Medical and Dental Careers.

After several more years of traveling, she came home to Black Lake for good after her mother passed away. She raised three boys, all as a single mother. She always uplifted and encouraged those around her. She was very proud of her sons and wouldn’t hesitate to brag about them. However, her pride and joy could be found in her grandchildren Joseph Black Jr., Haiden Black and Soloman Luke Brown. She made sure they knew Grandma loved them.

She enjoyed gardening, shopping, playing Bingo and computer games, but most of all, she absolutely loved playing and visiting with her grandchildren. She lived a full life and traveled to many places, but her heart and soul always led her back home to Black Lake. Despite her failing health, she still enjoyed going to town and tending to her dogs.

On the morning of Feb. 4, 2017, our mother went peacefully to join her friends, family and loved ones that preceded her in death. Although she has left, she will forever be loved and remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have met such a strong willed, independent and loving person.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helga Black; father, M.E. “Sonny Boy” Black; brother, Donnie “Bozo” Black; and brother-in-law, George Randy Slaughter.

She is survived by her sons, Billy Black, Joseph Black and David Brown; three grandchildren, Joseph Black Jr., Haiden Black and Luke Brown; daughter- in-law, Micalea Brown; brothers, Harold Albinus and Richard Black; sisters, Gail Roy and Aline Slaughter; inlaws, Erle Roy, Roseanne Black and Patricia Black; and numerous nieces, nephews, greatnieces, great-nephews and other family.

The Black family would also like to extend appreciation to two of her best friends who regularly visited her, Mrs. Betty Gail Elliott and Cordell Womack. We would also like to thank Advantage Home Health and Synergy Home Care for providing such wonderful care to our mother.

“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate”-Proverbs 31:31
