Funeral services for Danny Wayne Lumpkin Sr. were held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, with Rev.’s Dennis Bjornberg and Mark Smith, officiating. Interment followed the services at Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Danny, age 64, of Natchitoches, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at his home in Natchitoches. He was born on April 25, 1952, in England, Ark. He was so many things to so many people: a voice of reason when his family needed guidance; a warm heart when the world felt cold; a rock standing before his children when they needed protection. Everything one could ask for in a husband, father, brother, Paw-Paw or friend could be found in him. He was a hard worker, excellent provider and the strong silent type. His words were few, but his big heart and hard work spoke more than words could say. When he did speak, everyone listened. He loved his family and will forever be missed. We love you always, Danny, Honey, Daddy, Pawpaw.... He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Cass Lumpkin and Wilma Lorene Cullum Lumpkin. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Winston Elaine Lumpkin of Natchitoches; two sons, Danny Wayne Lumpkin Jr. and wife Heidi of New Orleans and Mark Anthony Lumpkin and wife Theresa of Florien; one daughter, MiChelle Cheri Smith and husband Mark of Natchitoches; and thirteen grandchildren, Shelby, Justin, Gabrielle, Olivia, Megan, Allison, Kamryn, Joshua, Jonathan, Jordan, Hadyn, Dax and Bentley. The pallbearers were Billy Bonds, George Youngblood, Skip Atlon, Troy Wheelington, David Dowden and Joseph Dowden.
