EUGENE L. VERCHER A Catholic Vigil Service for Eugene L. Vercher was held Feb. 24 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Ryan Humphries officiating. Burial followed at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family received friends Feb. 23. Gene “Plute” Vercher, 75 of Cloutierville, entered into eternal glory Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. Gene was an outspoken and opinionated man. He was quick with an answer on any topic you were having a discussion about. He worked for many years in the oil and gas industry as a well tester but also provided a transportation “hot-shot” service for many years. He loved music and enjoyed playing music with many different people in the area. He was a loving brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Robert Vercher and his wife Parilee; a great nephew that he considered as a son, Jonathan Harvey; nephews, Kenneth Vercher and his wife Casey; nieces, Felicia Harvey and Stephanie Ledet and her husband James; and a great niece, Skylar Harvey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Lela Mae (Robinson) Vercher; wife, Barbara Ann (Beck) Vercher; and a sister, Betty Joyce (Vercher) Harvey. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jimmy Elliotte, Kenneth Vercher, Ronald Elliotte, Billy Joe Dunn, Michael Tynes, Lonzo Harvey and Paul Tynes.
