
SUZANNE S. JONES Funeral services for Suzanne S. Jones, 89, of Marthaville, were held Feb. 25 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many, with Rev. Benjie Colvin officiating. Burial followed in the Marthaville Cemetery. Visitation began Feb. 24 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. Suzanne died Monday, Feb. 22, 2016 at Grace Home in Shreveport, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Rockford, Ill., she graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston and the Julliard School of Music in New York City. She married Guy Jones of Elizabethtown, Ky. and lived for many years in Riverside, Conn. She spent 10 years as the head of the Cuisinart test kitchen and editor of The Pleasures of Cooking Magazine. She worked with numerous chefs and taught seminars on cooking nationwide. She was a member of the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) and the Authors Guild. She and her husband both “retired” and moved to Florida, first to Ft. Lauderdale and then to John Knox Village in Pompano Beach. She continued to work as an independent food consultant and free-lance writer. For 17 years she wrote a weekly column for the Food Section of the ort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel newspaper. Guy passed away in 2004 and in 2006, Suzanne married David Palmatier, also a resident of John Knox Village. Following his death she moved to Marthaville to be near her daughter and family. She was the author of two cookbooks: The Low Cholesterol Food Processor Cookbook (Doubleday, 1980) and Readable, Doable and Delicious (Ex- Libris 2011) and wrote food articles for many publications. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marthaville. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Jones Sisk and husband James of Marthaville; step-daughters: Carolyn Baker of Laconia, NH and Maureen Brady of Laconia, NH; grandchildren: Marcus W. Kister, Jennifer H. Greene, Jeffrey A. Kister, Holly M. Gresham, Ryan Helmick and Jamie L. Sisk; great-grandchildren: Apollo, Alannah, Caden, Skylar, Isabelle, Michael, Gabbi, Lucy, Jaydelyn and Garrett; and special friend, Betty Movan. Pallbearers were Marcus Kister, Ryan Helmick, Gary Phelps, Charles Hudson, Joseph Walker, Apollo Greene, Jeff Kister, and Art Eason.
