Leonard McIntyre, 96, of New Orleans, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 at 2:09 a.m. He was born in Ashland, Dec. 31, 1919, the son of the late Andrew Lee and Beulah McIntyre. He was a member of Stronger Hope Baptist Church. Mr. McIntyre was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He owned and operated Mack’s Auto Mechanic Shop for many years in the New Orleans area. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served as a father figure to many. He is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Audrey McIntyre; and his sons Leonard McIntyre and Andrew Lee McIntyre. He is survived by his children, Karen Rogers, Joyce Riley, Lionel McIntyre, Linda McIntyre, Leonard Anthony McIntyre, and Rodney McIntyre; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Stronger Hope Baptist Church, New Orleans, and St. John the Baptist Church, Chestnut, are invited to attend the Visitation held on Friday, Jan. 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave., New Orleans. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church, 566 St. John Baptist Church Road, Chestnut, LA. (ASHLAND) 71002. The interment will take place at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will host a repast following the service. Arrangements by Duplain W. Rhodes Funeral Home.
