Funeral services for Mrs. Claire Hargis Greene will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 5 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with the Rev. Thomas Rush officiating. Interment will follow the services at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Claire passed from this life Wednesday, March 1, 2017. She was born in Natchitoches in 1920 and, except for a short time during WW II, was a lifelong resident of Natchitoches.
A former schoolteacher and Northwestern State University librarian, Claire was also a very active member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Roger, Ron and Andrea Greene; grandchildren, Ramsey and Jason Greene; three great-grandchildren, Tori, Lila and Elliot; brother, Ray Hargis; and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Velma and Andrew Hargis; husband, Glenn Greene; and brother, Don Hargis preceded her in death.
Her children would like to express deepest gratitude to Ann Hargis, Rick and Susan Hargis, compassionate caregivers Patricia Payne, Dorothy Johnson, Daphne Nobles and Beverly Shields, and thanks to the folks at Hospice of Natchitoches and The Arbor.
