CLOIS MOUSER DUKE

Funeral services for Mrs. Clois Mouser Duke, age 102, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25 at the Old Shongaloo Rock Church in Shongaloo with the Rev. William Peeples officiating. Interment will follow in Old Shongaloo Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 25 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mrs. Duke was born Oct. 26, 1914 to Thomas Jefferson and Veria Mcllveen Mouser in Emerson, Ark., and passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at the Courtyard of Natchitoches Nursing Home. She was a life long resident of this area and was a faithful member of Old Shongaloo Rock Church. She loved her work as a nurse at the Springhill Medical Center and Clinic where she retired after 30 years of service. After retirement, she volunteered for several years with the Medical Center Volunteers at the hospital and serving her community.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Derwood Norvin Duke and wife, Ann of Natchitoches; daughter, Francis Vaughan and husband, Rusty of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Kreusel and husband, Roy, Cindy Allen and husband, Lyett, Trey Duke and wife, Daphne, and Kent Vaughan; seven great-grandchildren, Karl, Kurt, Katherine, Phillip, Andrew, Cameron and Claire; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.D. “Biddy” Duke; sisters, Willie Mae Woodard and Jeanette Mouser; brothers, Floyd Mouser, Jack Mouser, T.J. Mouser and half brother, James Greer.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Trey Duke, Cameron Duke, Karl Kreusel, Kurt Kreusel, Andrew Allen, Phillip Allen, Kent Vaughan, Jason Mouser and Toby Mouser.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Old Shongaloo Rock Church or Cemetery Fund.
