Funeral Services for Alexander Hudon Smith will be Saturday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Fern Park Cemetery. “Alex” (Alexander) as he was known, transitioned from this life and embraced into the arms of the Lord into eternal rest on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 following a period of illness from diabetes complications. He was born April 5, 1958 on the island of New Providence, Nassau, Bahamas to the late Hudon Smith and Naomi Knowles Smith. He was educated at the Thatchberry Primary School and C.I. Gibson Junior and Senior High School in Nassau, Bahamas, and worked many years as a transportation specialist for public transit in Nassau, before moving to Natchitoches where he was employed by Trus Joist. Alexander is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Colleen Smith. He is lovingly remembered and survived by a son, BaJai Alexander (B.A.) and his daughter La’Kiyah Thompson; his mother, Betty Wells Sawyer Smith of Natchitoches; a spiritual daughter, Min. Tangeka Sawyer Montgomery and husband Kinsey of Keithville and their children, Skylar and Madisyn Montgomery; his siblings Wilfred Knowles, Kenneth Smith, Thelma Rose Ferguson and husband Rudy, DeAnn Smith-Gaitor, Sharon Bethell, Linda Davis and husband Kevin, all of Nassau, Bahamas and Judith Simpson and husband Scott of Bermuda; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Officiating services is Rev. Jerald D. Danzell. Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements
