A funeral service for Eloise Thaxton was held Nov. 24 at the First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches with the Rev. Doug deGraffenreid officiating. Interment followed at the American Cemetery. Eloise, 97, of Natchitoches, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 in Natchitoches. She was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, D.B. Thaxton; her parents, Cleveland Stewart and Vernie Stewart; one sister, Iris Weldon; and four brothers, G.C. Stewart, Sammie Stewart, Q.L. Stewart, and Lee Raymond Stewart. She is survived by her daughter, B.J. Thaxton McKee and husband Larry A. of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren, Tracey McKee Cashio and her husband Vince of Baton Rouge, and Rev. Dr. Kevin McKee and wife, Mary Hook McKee of Baton Rouge; four great grandchildren, Monica, Stewart, Joanna, and Lincoln; and one brother, Grover Stewart and his wife Betty. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Curtis Masingill, Vince Cashio, Rev. Kevin McKee and Stewart McKee.
