“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose” Ecclesiastes 3:1 Henry James Winslow was born to the late Gertrude Davis and Emmanuel Wyatt Oct. 22, 1945. Realizing he needed a spiritual foundation, he accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greenville Baptist Church where he remained faithful until he journeyed home. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ernestine Sheppard. They were blessed with five children. Henry was a provider for his family. He retired from Willamette Industries after 35 years of service. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Ernestine Sheppard Winslow; two daughters, Jackie Winslow of Clarence, and Shaliska Horton (Fredrick) of Campti, three sons, Henry Jermaine Winslow (La Tonya), Greg Winslow, and Kevon Jefferson of Clarence, five sisters: Loretta Bradley of Clarence, Lessie Johnson of California, Georgia Walton, Catherine Beate, and Claretha Williams of Campti, four brothers, Earl Winslow of Clarence, Charles Ray Carter of St. Maurice, Emmanuel Wyatt of Milwaukee, Wis., and Julius Davis of Houston; one sister-in-law: Carrei Nelson of Houston, three brother-in-laws, Roosevelt Sheppard of Houston, Albert Sheppard Jr. (Kristine) of Baton Rouge, and Jerry Sheppard Sr. of Natchitoches; two god-sisters-in-law, Valarie Smith (Dewayne) of Clarksville, Tenn. and Nomay Howard of Dallas, one god-brother-in-law, Victor Loyd of Eufalla, Ala.; three godchildren Brittany Barber, Khari Barefield of Houston and An’gel Boyd of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. at Greenville Baptist Church in Clarence.
